(1) The Divisional Forest Officer may hand over the national forest around the said area as a religious forest to any religious body group or community established in accordance with the prevailing law for the protection of the religious place and the forest around it since ancient times.
(2) Such forest shall not be deemed to have been transferred to the name of such religious body, group or community merely because it has been transferred for protection in accordance with sub-section (1).
